Five Spice Lamb

A mouth watering lamb dish, using aromatic five spice, that is perfect for an informal dinner party.

Ingredients:
Preparation:
  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (gas 3).
  2. Prepare the veg by chopping the onion, grating the ginger and crushing the garlic. Set aside.
  3. Make stock using a lamb stock cube.
  4. Chop the coriander and mix with the toasted sesame seeds. Set aside.
  5. Bone and cube the leg of lamb and in a flameproof casserole using 2 tbsp of oil brown the lamb in batches using a high heat, set aside.
  6. Add the ginger, garlic and onion to the casserole dish and cook for about 3 minutes until softened.
  7. Put the lamb back in the dish, stir in the five spice powder, soy and hoi sin sauce, passata, stock and seasoning.
  8. Bring to the boil, add a cover and cook in the oven for 1¼ hours.
  9. Take the casserole out and add the peppers, re-cover and put back for another 15 mins or until the lamb is very tender.
  10. Sprinkle with the coriander/sesame seed mix and serve with your choice of cooked rice.
