Chinese New Year welcomed in at Eastgate Oriental City

Sunday 1 February 2009

The year of the Ox was welcomed in on a chilly February morning by the Water Sky restaurant. It started with traditional firecrackers at 11am to scare away the evil spirits for the new year. This was followed by a visit from the Pak Mei Kung Fu group who brought luck and prosperity in the form of a traditional Chinese unicorn dance.

The Ox is thought to be the sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Maybe that’s the way out of the credit crunch.
