Description:All Natural Dried Mekabu Seaweed (Undaria Pinnatifida)

Preparations: Cut desired amount of Wel-Pac Mekabu and soak in hot water for 2 to 3 minutes, drain well. Add to soups and salads.

Vegetable Tofu Soup
3 Dynasty shiitake dried black mushroom, 1/2 cup (packed) WelPac mekabu dried seaweed, 10 oz soft tofu, 4 tsp Ajinomoto hon dashi bonito-style soup base granules, 3 tbsp Ozeki sake, 1/8 tsp black pepper, 2 medium carrot (thinly sliced), 1 medium new potato (cut into 1/2 cubes), 1 green onion and top (thinly sliced diagonal)
Cooking Directions:
Soak shiitake as package directs. Drain. Remove and discard shiitake stems. Thinly slice shiitake. Re-hydrate mekabu as directed on package. Drain well. Drain tofu on paper towel for 20 minutes. Crumble tofu. Combine 6 cups of water, dashi granules, sake and pepper in a medium sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Add shiitake, carrots, potato and green onion. Return to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes, or until vegetables are tender. Mix in mekabu and tofu. Cook for 1 minute longer, or until all is hot. Ladle into bowls to serve. Makes 6 servings, about 1 1/2 cup each.

Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Once opened, store in an air-tight container and consume as soon as possible.
