Description:Yutaka Sasa Nishiki Super Premium Sushi Rice

This rice is the Sasa-Nishiki variety (first developed in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan) and produced in Chiang Rai Province which adjoins Myanmar and Laos in the northernmost area of Thailand.

Chiang Rai is famous as the area where the Lanna Dynasty once reigned. 'Lanna' literally means 'millions of paddy fields'.
The land is surrounded by high mountains, enjoys cold and clean water and a relatively cooler climate: the best possible production conditions for the Sasa-Nishiki variety of rice. Yutaka Sasa-Nishiki rice is short grain and has a shiny and fluffy appearance when cooked. It is less sticky, has a lighter flavour and also keep a good flavour when eaten cold. The rice doesn't become too sticky when seasoned with sushi vinegar, this it's the most suitable rice for making sushi.

How to cook sushi rice (serves 2)
1. Put 250g of rice into a bowl and wash with cold water. Repeat 3 or 4 times and then drain the rice with a sieve.
2. Add 330ml of water and the washed rice to a saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes with the lid on.
3. Turn off the heat and leave ti stand for 25-30 minutes. Do not open the lid!

Store in a cool, dry place.
