Sasa-Nishiki rice was first cultivated in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Yutaka Sasanishiki rice uses authentic rice seeds from Japan and is produced in the rice paddy fields of Chiang Rai Province, Thailand.

Located in the northernmost region of Thailand, the area is surrounded by high mountains, and its cold, clean water and cooler climate is the best possible environment to grow Sasanishiki rice.
Yutaka Sasanishiki short grain rice has a shiny and fluffy appearance when cooked. It maintains its flavour even when cold, making it most suitable for making sushi and onigiri rice balls.

How to cook sushi rice (serves 2)
1. Put 250g of rice into a bowl and wash with cold water. Repeat 3 or 4 times and then drain the rice with a sieve.
2. Add 330ml of water and the washed rice to a saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes with the lid on.
3. Turn off the heat and leave it stand for 25-30 minutes. Do not open the lid!

Store in a cool, dry place.
