Local Charity to Receive ‘Bags’ of Cash!

Under Privileged Children's CharityWe know that it has taken some time to get used to, but now we have come to the end of the first month of our 5p charge for plastic carrier bags. In a move to reduce our environmental impact, we started charging 5p for every plastic carrier bag from 1st December 2008, with all proceeds going to the Under Privileged Children’s Charity (UPCC) (Charity No. 1365577), a local charity that provides aid for underprivileged children. Click here for more details about what Wai Yee Hong is doing to be more green!

The final sum of money raised in December through the sale of bags is £101.65; over 2,000 bags! What’s more, donations made in our in-store collection boxes over the last few months has come to the grand total of £103.30! Overall, funds raised for the UPCC total over £200, which we are certain will be appreciated by the children who receive aid from the UPCC.

Thank-you to all our customers for helping us to make this transition a smooth one, and for the monies donated to this great charitable cause. Even more thanks to all of you who have supported us in increasing bag and cardboard box re-use.
