Bags For Charity – Month 4
We’ve come to the end of the fourth month of our ‘Bags For Charity’ scheme, where all proceeds from our 5p carrier bags go to the Under Privileged Children’s Charity (UPCC). Since December 2009, our customers have re-used bags and cardboard boxes to an equivalent of over 27,000 carrier bags! This is a fantastic achievement that we hope will help to reduce our impact on the environment.
The average plastic carrier bag is used for five minutes, but takes 500 years to decompose. – DEFRA, the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.
This month, collections from our in-store collection boxes, and through the sale of our plastic carrier bags have come to a total of almost £100! This brings the running total raised for the UPCC to £550!
Once again, we would like to thank all our customers for supporting our drive to increase bag re-use and for helping to raise money for this great cause. Click here for more details about what Wai Yee Hong is doing to be more green!
