Wai Yee Hong is Going Green!
Did you know that Wai Yee Hong has been working to become more green? Our latest initiative to reduce our environmental impact requires your co-operation!
As of 1st December 2008, to encourage recycling, we will be charging in-store customers 5p for each carrier bag used. All proceeds will go to the Under Privileged Children’s Charity (UPCC) (Charity No. 1365577) until further notice. Cardboard boxes will still be provided free-of-charge (in case you forget!).
The UPCC is a local charity that provides support and financial assistance to children in need. The charity has no paid officials, to ensure that every penny donated is put to good causes. We’d like to say thank-you to the UPCC and the volunteers for all their efforts to improve the lives of those who need it most.
Wai Yee Hong on Green-Alert!:
- Lights in our offices and other staff areas have all been fitted with movement-sensors to ensure that they do not get left on when not being used.
- Our staff kitchen now uses an efficient boiler, rather than a kettle, so that energy is saved when making the many cups of tea that power our great staff!
- Orders through our online store are now picked using a digital shopping list, helping us to save on paper for every single one!
- Our online business has uses bio-degradable loosefill and when available, recycles empty cardboard boxes generated by the supermarket. A massive 99% of shoppers to our online store have chosen to have their parcel sent in a recycled box! Thanks to all of you!
