Hand Mixing Method
Prepare twelve 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch square grease-proof paper liners. Fill a steamer with water about 2/3 full and bring to a vigorous boil. 1 packet Tippy Salapao Mix, 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp water, 1/2 tsp vegetable oil.
Place contents of packet in a bowl. Gradually add water and vegetable oil and mix until just blended. Transfer onto floured surface. Knead dough until smooth. Shape into a long roll and divide into twelve equal pieces. Flatten dough piece and place one tablespoon of filling in the centre. Pleat the edge of the dough loosely around the filling, then twist top and press firmly to close. Place on paper and arrange in steamer. Steam for 15 minutes.
Serve warm.

Dough Mixer Method
Place contents of packet in a mixing bowl. Add water and vegetable oil. Mix dough at slow speed of mixer for 1/2 minute. Turn mixer speed to medium and then mix for 3 more minutes. Proceed as indicated above.

Fried Salapao
Cool steamed salapao and peel off paper liners. Deep fat fry over medium heat for 10 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

Fried Twists
Ingredients: 1 packet Tippy Salapao Mix, 1 egg, 2 tbsp water, 1/2 vegetable oil, 1/4 tsp salt.
Method: Mix all ingredients together and prepare dough as indicated above. Shape dough into a rectangle about 3 mm thick and cut into long strips about 1 cm wide. Fold strip in half and twist around each other. Deep fat fry over medium heat for 5 minutes or until golden brown. If desired, roll fried strips in glazed syrup.
Glazed Syrup: Combine 1 cup sugar, 3/4 cup honey and 1/4 cup water in a saucepan and boil over low heat until thick.
